Small Charity Week: Donate to Double

Small Charity Week has officially begun with donations to our Longest Day campaign doubled.

The eve of Small Charity Week will see the year's longest day - but if you are gripped by alcohol or drug misuse, every day can feel like the longest day. Through this campaign we will show what that looks and feels like, the affect and impact, and how Resolve is here to help and to change that.

Just before the campaign, we spoke to Kirsty, about her Longest Day and how Resolve is helping her.

Then:

'‘By November I was drinking 3 bottles of wine a day All times of the day, every day, it started creeping into the morning.

It took over my life; it took over my body. I became physically dependent. I was slowly killing myself. I wanted better for me.

I thought, enough is enough. I went to some dark places. I reached out to Resolve.

'The groups were not as bad as I thought they would be. I was with like-minded people. There was no judgement, we are all in the same boat.

‘Someone would say something, I would relate too. I was not going mad. There’s no stereotype at the group of ‘hello, I’m an alcoholic – rather it’s ‘how’s your week been?’

I guarantee I would walk in feeling rubbish and walk out feeling that little bit lighter. And that’s down to the group.'

Now:

‘I feel fantastic. It’s 4 months clean now, the longest I have ever been without alcohol.

I like the Resolve regulars, we are like a little family. We all check in. If one of us has a blip, we’re gutted for them – and say you’ve got this

‘We’re all in the same boat – I am 4 months sober, everyone says well done.

Resolve partners with Letchworth business

We are delighted to have partnered with Greendrift Wills & Estates, a local Will writing & estate planning business based in Letchworth.

The business is run by John Franklin, and we recently met John for a coffee and told him about our vital work. John had already very kindly made a donation to Resolve and also now sponsored our successful Strawberries & Cream Tea Party & Quiz.

John said: "We are a Letchworth-based business with clients coming from Letchworth and nearby towns like Hitchin and Baldock; with Resolve a Letchworth-based charity supporting and helping residents from the same kind of areas, it made sense to me to partner up and see if I can support them and their key work in some small way."

Charity Golf Tournament

All set for a fantastic day on the fairway

We are excited to announce our inaugural charity golf day set for later this summer.

We have teamed up with Leysbrook Estate Agent, who will be bringing a fantastic day on the fairway at the beautiful Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club with a Charity Golf Tournament on Friday 25th September.

Enjoy some friendly competition, all in aid of us and the charity Azalea.

Tee off is set for 1.30pm and we are now selling tickets for teams of 4 for a great price of £450.

There will be lots of other exciting things to sign up for too, including a golf cart, photography packages and the chance to sponsor a hole. There will be lots of fun things to try on the day too, like Hole in One and Spin to Win.

And if golf isn't your thing, please feel free to join us for a meal and some fundraising activities in the late afternoon and evening.

Supported by our generous sponsors and competitors, this is a brilliant chance to play, connect, and make a real difference in the community.

Our exciting challenge events for 2026

It's half way through 2026 and we are excited to offer you some fantastic, fun, challenging and ultimately very rewarding events for you to consider this year as we aim to grow our fundraising so we can support and reach more local residents looking to recover from alcohol or drug misuse.

Fun & challenge events

We have teamed up with expert event providers to offer you the chance to do a tandem skydive where there is nothing quite like jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet to raise money for a vital cause. Or how about the Hertfordshire Half marathon in Knebworth set for November? There is plenty for you to choose from in our event hub below so please do have a look to find your perfect and fun event for 2026. A massive thank you to Team Resolve

A brilliant effort

After months of training, it was finally race day for our team of seven runners who headed to the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 8th March and it was great to catch up with a few of them before they started.

We had a quick chat about how they felt they would go in the race, how their training had been and how the work of Resolve had resonated with some of their supporters. And then, after a picture in their Resolve t shirts, they were off, dropping their baggage and heading to the start line.

A great atmosphere

It was a fantastic atmosphere as all the runners set off and while I didn't manage to see our team at the various points I watched the runners, it was great to know that they were out there running this brilliant race. And, as I said to one of our team before she started, every step you take in the race is a step towards supporting our vital work, week in, week out for local residents in the grip of alcohol or drug misuse.

And what steps they took. Every member of our team's fundraising was incredible resulting in a brilliant team total £3,629 raised so far which is amazing and will help us so much.

This is a brilliant event, with thousands of people running through the historic streets of Cambridge, in the knowledge their efforts will really be having an impact on the lives of those in local communities - and we have places for 2027. Dani rolls with the punches for Resolve

Stepping into the ring and giving back

There are many ways you can fundraise for Resolve, but an Ultra White Collar Boxing fight takes some beating.

But that is exactly what Letchworth resident Dani will be doing when she steps into the ring on 19th April for three two-minute rounds of boxing in aid of three local charities, including us.

‘I did a fight last June and had a blast, it was really fun, but this year I want to do better than before,’ said Dani when I caught up with her recently. ‘I want to do it properly, work on my fitness, get fit and put my all into it’.

Dani, who works at the Platform in Letchworth town centre, started her training on 23rd February and chose Resolve as one her charities after someone told her about us.

Resonates

' I didn’t know much about Resolve, but when I looked at your website, having myself had a past with drug issues, Resolve resonated with me. For me, luckily enough I got out of it but a lot of people struggle and drug or alcohol misuse can ruin a lot of people’s lives. If there are charities like Resolve who can help, it speaks volumes.’

Giving back

And now, for Dani, it is all about this new challenge and giving back.

‘Essentially people and organisations who have helped, I want to now give back to. If I had known about Resolve back then, certain aspects of my life would have been easier. So now it’s making sure that these charities stay and can give the help that some people desperately need today’

I Resolve to..The Sequel has now closed and we're delighted to advise it raised an incredible £4,014 for our work - a huge thank you to everyone who donated.

I Resolve to....do something for me

Last time we asked people to donate to the campaign to help someone like John, or Michael or Lynne, people Resolve had supported and really helped - but this time we were asking what you would pledge to do for YOU?

Whether it was a New Year's resolution, a challenge, or reading a book - what would you pledge? And we received a fantastic 40 donations taking us part our £2,000 target just before the midday deadline - which when it was all doubled left us with a brilliant £4,014

I Resolve to..The Sequel ran from noon Tuesday 2nd December until noon Tuesday 9th December 2025 and this amazing total will help us to continue to support local residents, getting lives back on track, this winter and beyond - so thank you.

Human Fruit Machine raises funds and awareness

Even though it rained most of the day, we still had a fun day at the Letchworth Christmas Lights Switch on event, raising vital awareness and funds for our work.

As the clock struck 12 noon, and our volunteers took their places, the skies opened and the rain poured down, and our fundraising team wondered where our first customer would come from. Five hours later, those worries had been well and truly banished, after an afternoon of fun and games on the Human Fruit Machine.

Awareness and fundraising

Superbly supported by local businesses who gave their time, skills and prizes, scores of lovely people came to have a go on the Human Fruit Machine to hear the horn go, watch the arms roll and the fruit held aloft. There was a donation every time, a prize every time and some good conversations had and awareness of our work raised.

Fantastic total

With Christmas cards which had been hand-crafted by a Letchworth artist, with a % of cost going to Resolve, also for sale we raised an excellent £289.20 on a wet yet fun day. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us.
